Yeliz Gedik

Yeliz, a biologist settled in the Washington DC area, is also a talented artist originally from Turkey. Despite her scientific pursuits, her heart lies in art. Introduced to painting at the age of four by her father, Yeliz’s artistic journey paused as she grew up. However, she reignited her passion later in life, using painting for self-discovery and expression. Yeliz’s art holds a potent feminist message, particularly through the power of portraits. Utilizing mediums such as acrylics, markers, oil paint, colored pencils, and mixed media; drawing from her cultural background and personal experiences, she crafts compelling portraits that serve as a medium for feminist activism. Through her artwork, Yeliz aims to challenge societal norms, advocate for gender equality, and amplify the voices of women.
