Building Bridges for Belonging

Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong?

Many of us have experienced moments when someone makes us feel like an “other.” No one should have to feel that way. Our next event invites us to reconnect with our shared humanity, appreciate our differences, and create space for belonging together.

Building Bridges for Belonging is a community gathering where we’ll use art to imagine a shared reality—one where we can coexist, connect, and support one another.

Love for Immigrants artist AnaYelsi Velasco Sanchez (@brwneyedamzn) will lead a hands-on art workshop exploring identity, belonging, and collective storytelling.

About the project
“Building Bridges to Belonging” is a collaborative artivism project that invites families and students to explore belonging as something we build together—not something that separates “us” and “them.”

Instead of focusing on labels, this project highlights our shared humanity, layered identities, and collective stories.

Participants will:
🎨 Create individual art pieces
🍽 Gather and connect over light snacks

Together, these pieces will become part of a larger installation symbolizing interconnection and community.

You are also welcome to bring artwork you’ve been working on to share in a small group.
